Pastor
Jeff Gantz is the Pastor of the church and he has all of the pastoral duties! Jeff has been with St. John’s for 8 years. He has a MDiv. from Brite Divinity School, a BA of Sociology from Stephen F .Austin, and an AA of Liberal Arts from Lon Morris College. Jeff’s family is his wife, Kim, for whom he is very grateful! He has a strong-willed orange cat named Cheeto. Jeff's hobbies include riding his recumbent trike anywhere he can find a road or trail, walking along the beach and on rainy days he loves “to make sawdust in the garage.” Jeff’s secret talent is that he can keep a secret. His favorite things are decompressing outdoors, working with his hands and creating things, growing and repairing things. A fun fact about Jeff is that he always dreamed of hiking the Appalachian Trail, but a more practical fact is that he is pescatarian.

DIRECTOR of Music Ministries
Tim Benson, aka Mr. Tim, is the Director of Music Ministries. He is in charge of all things music related, and has been working for St. John’s since 1991. He attended Texas A&M, (BS, Sociology)and Houston Baptist University (BM, Music). Tim’s family is his mom and his dog, Trinket. His hobbies include reading and traveling. His secret talent is, “tormenting all” and he claims he is an “equal-opportunity tormentor.” One of Tim’s favorite things is chocolate and a fun fact about him is that he grew up at St. John’s and now he works here. He claims he “came with the building” and he has “been here for two centuries.”

Office Administrator & Wedding Coordinator
Melissa Rocha is the Church Secretary. Her job duties include a little bit of everything! She has been with St. John’s for about 19 years. Melissa completed high school and went on to join the US Army. Her family includes her husband, Desi, two daughters, Destiny and Alexis, three bonus children and according to her, she has an active hand in raising her mom, and nieces and nephews. Melissa has a chihuahua named Chiquis and a lab-blue heeler mix named Elliott. Her hobbies include reading, puzzles, crafting and baking. Her favorite things are Hobby Lobby, Mountain Dew and taking care of others. A couple of fun facts about her are that she had to get a waiver to join the army because she could not pass the hearing test and she has an unhealthy obsession with collecting decorative pumpkins.

Finance Secretary
Ginger Johnson is the church’s Finance Administrator. Her duties include processing, recording, and maintaining church financial records, maintaining confidentiality of the finance records, maintaining individual’s contribution records, memorial records and acknowledgements, maintaining HR records, payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciling all bank and investment accounts, and prepares monthly finance statements for the Finance Committee. Ginger’s family includes her husband, Hurley, four grown children and six grandchildren. She has three pups named Coco, Cookie and Riley. Her hobbies include yard work and decorating. Ginger’s secret talent is singing her favorite things are God, family, making sunday dinner for her kids and their families, sharing her faith with the grands, hosting all the holidays, cooking, and having a house full of chatter, laughing and even babies crying. A fun fact about her is that she loves her job and the people at St. John’s!

Natalie Sulak
Director of Social and Worship Media
Natalie Sulak is the Director of Social and Worship Media for St. John’s and she handles all things social media, the website, handling the sound room for special events and preparing the worship slideshow each Sunday. She has been with St. John’s for 16 years as a member and not quite a year as director. Natalie has a BFA of Photography/Digital Media. Her family includes her parents, Phil and Liz, and her younger brother Phillip Jr., aka Buddy. She has a Chihuahua-Terrier mix named Colonel, a crazy cat named Gally, and step-cat Alister. Her hobbies include watching movies and tv, film photography, taking care of her plants, tie dying, listening to music, listening to audiobooks, loving her dog and cat and shopping. Her secret talent is that she is a fairly good writer. Her favorite things are iced coffee, makeup, getting her nails done, spending time with her friends, her dog and cats and good food. A fun fact about her is that she was in a made for TV movie.

CHildren's DIRECTOR
Hannah Cantu is the Director of Children’s Ministries. She is in charge of developing the children’s Sunday school curriculum, activities and outreach events, organizing and planning Children’s Church, helping with Vacation Bible School, organizing volunteers for different church events and pretty much anything to do with our youngest congregation members! She has been working for St. John’s for a year.
She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Houston. Her family includes her husband, Frankie, and her two daughters, Charlotte and Abigail. Hannah has one dog, a 7-year-old terrier/lab mix named Fiona. Her hobbies include reading, writing, working out, traveling, makeup, watching movies and trying new restaurants with her husband. Hannah’s secret talent is that she can choreograph dance and cheer, and she is pretty musically inclined. She says if she wasn’t a teacher she would probably be a film scorer, but she doesn’t know how to read music. Hannah’s favorite things are reading, makeup, color coding, flair pens, organizing (planner) stickers and anything sentimental. A fun fact about Hannah is that church member, Kathy Kail, was her husband’s 5th grade teacher at Taylor Ray Elementary and another church member, Dory Tavener, was her 11th grade BCIS teacher at Lamar Consolidated High School. She claims, “Mrs. Kail first met my husband when he was at his sweetest and Mrs. Tavener met me when I was at my sassiest.”

Jennifer Pratorious
Youth Director
Jennifer Pratorious is the Youth Director of the church. Her duties include planning and executing youth events. She has worked with the Youth since September 2022, but she grew up at St. John’s where she was active in UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) and the Singing and Ringing Saints since she was a teen. Her family includes her husband Scott, and children Emma and Aubery Ostertag, and Drew and Dani Pratorious. She has a cat named Terrible Trixie and twoGoldendoodles named Maisie and Sadie. Her hobbies include reading, knitting/crocheting, playing PokemonGo with her nephew and being a mom. Jennifer says she does not have any secret talents because she lets all her talents be known! Her favorite things are her family, friends, yarn, books and human connection. A fun fact about her is that when she was a youth at St. John’s, Mr. Tim was her youth director, and she can’t imagine anyone el

Matt Wallace
Organist/pianist
It is a Joy to introduce to you the newest addition to our church staff, and our new church organist, Matt Wallace. He and his wife, Megan, have two children—Spencer (age 9) and Lillian (age 12). And not to be forgotten, their German Pincher named Sherbert!
Megan and Matt grew up together in Nederland, TX and got to know each other through the high school theatre department. Megan teaches Theatre in Fort Bend ISD.
Matt received his bachelors of music and Vocal Performance from Sam Houston; and his Masters of Liberal Arts with a concentration in vocal performance from University of St. Thomas in 2012. Since that time, Matt has served United Methodist Churches from Huntsville, TX, to Houston, TX, To Sugarland, TX. He has also worked as a voice coach and school Choir director.
Matt enjoys a plethora of interests including travel, theatre, woodworking, voice acting, piano tuning, British comedy, the legend of Zelda games, Marvel movies, f3 workouts, and much more!

Nursery Coordinator
Bunnie Moore is our Nursery Coordinator, and her job duties include hiring nursery workers, overseeing the needs in the nursery, nursery supplies, training, CPR, scheduling workers for the nursery in addition to regular Sunday nursery hours. Bunnie has been a member of St. John’s for 26 years, but has been Nursery coordinator for 20 years. She has a high school education. Her family includes her late husband John Moore and three children. She does not have any pets, but she has lots of grand dogs and one grand cat! Her hobbies include collecting dolls and Elvis memorabilia. Bunnie’s secret talent is poetry, and her favorite things are family, friends, her church family, and children. A fun fact about Bunnie is that she loves to dance, although she is no longer able to, and despite her height, she was a part of the basketball team all four years of highschool.

Head Nursery Attendant
Lupe Garcia is the Head Nursery Attendant and she is in charge of nursery childcare. She has worked at St. John’s for 14 years. She has a high school diploma and her family includes her husband, son, daughter, two step-daughters, three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Lupe’s favorite things are cooking and shopping with her grandchildren.

Gracee Solis
Nursery Attendant
Gracee Solis is our Nursery Attendant and she helps Lupe in the nursery with childcare and she has been with St. John’s for 11 years. She has high school and some college education and has received medical assistant certification. She has a husband and two daughters, aged 26 and 18, and some cats. Her favorite things are family time and taking naps on the weekend.

Custodian
Felipe Munoz is in charge of maintenance and cleaning. His duties include removing trash, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming. Felipe has been with St. John’s for 17 years. He went to school through 11th grade. He has one dog named Fendi and one cat named Fifi. His secret talent is that he can speak English, Spanish, and according to him, “Gibberish.” His favorite things are mayonaise, hot candy, Topo Chico and horror movies. A fun fact about Felipe is that he is always in a good mood!
