Each year during Advent we have a multitude of Christmas ministries to participate in. Below you can find a little about each of these ministries.
Christmas Ministries
-
Angel Tree
Angel Tree is a program of Prison Fellowship that connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. Select a yellow angel from the tree and purchase the gift(s) suggested to be given to a child in the name of his/her prisoner-parent.
-
Fort Bend Rainbow Room
The Fort Bend Rainbow Room Children's Christmas Project provides children the opportunity to request three items that they would like Santa to deliver for Christmas. Select a heart ornament from the tree and purchase some or all of the gifts suggested to help an abused or neglected child have a merry Christmas.
-
Be a Santa to a Senior
Home Instead Senior Care has identified seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. Select a Santa hat ornament from the tree and purchase the gift(s) suggested for a deserving senior in our community. The gift card suggestion is to assist them in paying for prescriptions.
-
Military
Select a soldier ornament from the tree and purchase the suggested gift(s) to be distributed to soldiers separated from their families this Christmas.
-
Friends of North Richmond
Friends of North Richmond, a division of Attack Poverty, organizes a marketplace where families who need a little help can go “shopping” for Christmas gifts for their family members. Select an ornament from the tree and purchase the gift(s) suggested to be included in the Christmas Marketplace.
-
Mercy Goods
Mercy Goods, a division of Attack Poverty, is always in need of tools and equipment for their shop. Select an ornament with a link to their Amazon Wishlist - don’t forget to use the SMILE option so that St. John’s can receive a cash portion of sales - and help them create employment, job-training, and mentorship opportunities for at-risk youth.
-
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
We host a blood drive with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center each Advent in Wendt Hall. Take time to donate and give the gift of life this Christmas.
