More than one hundred years ago, faithful members of this now historic church placed these beautiful stained glass windows along the walls of the sanctuary. For generations, they have filled this sacred space with color and light—shining over baptisms, weddings, funerals, and countless moments of prayer and worship.
Now, after almost a century, the time has come to lovingly restore these treasured windows so they may continue to inspire those who come after us.
Phase One -- The East Wall Window (Jesus at Gethsemane)
On Tuesday, March 17, Stanton Glass of Waco, Texas will carefully remove the stained glass panels so they can begin the restoration process. Each piece will be gently taken apart, cleaned, and repaired. Broken pieces of glass will be replaced, and every panel will be reassembled with great care and craftsmanship.
While this restoration work is underway, temporary wood paneling will be placed where the windows have been removed. These panels will be thoughtfully decorated with faux replicas of the stained glass so that the sanctuary remains as beautiful and reverent as possible during this season of restoration.
When the work is complete, the restored windows will be returned to their home in this sanctuary—once again allowing the light to shine through them, just as it has for generations before us.
In restoring these windows, we are not only preserving beautiful works of art—we are honoring the faith, devotion, and legacy of those who came before us, while ensuring that their light continues to shine for generations yet to come.
Thank You SJUMC!
