Sunday School at St. John's is a great way to get to know other members and to delve a little deeper into the Bible and issues of faith. We currently have six classes based loosely on age, but everyone is welcome in each class. Scroll below to find out more about the options, or better yet, try one out next Sunday! We love visitors!
Open Doors would LOVE to have you come join them as they enjoy a cup of coffee, “chew on” some of today's topics, and try to discover how Christ wants us to react. Anyone who is old enough to graduate from high school (no matter when you graduated) is welcome. COME HELP US GROW. If you know anyone searching for a group to hang out with, please let them know about Open Doors. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:45am in Room 406.
The Lamplight Class welcomes everyone to our Bible-focused class. The class curriculum focuses on asking the difficult questions and digging deeper into the Bible, while applying its teachings to our hectic lives. Our class is frequently led by a guest lecturer. Can't make it every Sunday? No problem! The class works with stand-alone Bible study experiences, so everyone feels they "belong" on any given Sunday.
The Lamplight Class is focused on supporting the young adult and young family base of the Church and is committed to giving back to the community through our deeds and service. We also have two parties per year. Our ages range from mid-20s to 40s. We meet Sunday mornings around 9:45 and begin our lesson at 10:00 in the Library (Room 408).
We are a group of Christians seeking to get better at seeing God's plan for our lives and following that plan in this hectic world. Our study materials vary from contemporary books to videos of relevant topics. We also get together for Christmas parties & the like.
We are adults of all ages and stages of life, though mostly parents of youth. We look forward to welcoming new members into our group. Our ages range from 30s to 50s. Come as You Are meets Sunday mornings in Room 402 (upstairs in the corner over-looking 4th & Morton) beginning around 9:45.
The Good News Sunday School Class is a lively, talkative group of individuals who care about St. John's, each other, and the community. Because of the varied interests of the class members, a variety of curricula are presented throughout the year with the class voting on their choices. Email prayer requests are sent out weekly in addition to an update regarding project information and the lesson.
There are opportunities for additional fellowship through the Good News dinner club, theater group, home potlucks, and the annual Christmas Party. Ages range from 50s on up. Sunday morning fellowship time starts at 9:50 with the lesson beginning at 10:00. Good News meets in Room 409.
We offer thoughtful teaching along with friendship, prayers, and support for each other. Our curriculum is Adult Bible Studies, an official resource for The United Methodist Church, and published quarterly by Cokesbury. Emphasis is on Biblical selections and text commentary, both of which generate a sometimes spirited, illuminating discussion on Scripture's application to Christians today. Voluntary teaching and devotional presentations by members are encouraged.
Our class supports outreach projects within and outside the church community. We host an Annual Christmas Party, Spring Fling and Fall Fest during the year for additional fellowship time. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:45 with the lesson starting at 10:00 in Room 401.
This adult Sunday School class is open to any and all. The class meets upstairs in Room 404. We hope you will try us out and see if we are just what you have been looking for! All are welcome to join us!
