Worship is an important aspect of growing as a follower of Jesus Christ. Worship is the gathering together of believers to experience God in singing, Bible reading, and praying. We gather together each Sunday morning to worship.
St. John's conducts two traditional worship services, at 8:30am and 11:00am, both in the Sanctuary (corner 4th & Jackson/Hwy-90A). Find us on a map here.
Our worship music is a blend of hymns and praise songs, with anthems by the adult choir, and special performances by the children's choir, youth choir, and handbell choirs throughout the year. Sermons generally follow the Revised Common Lectionary. The adult choir also presents a cantata during both the Christmas and Easter seasons.
Children ages 3-3rd grade have the option of attending Children's Church during the sermon in the 11:00 service. Children's Church is a continuation of worship, just in a way that keeps kids engaged!
After Children's Time in our 11:00 service, all children ages 3 through 3rd grade are invited to join us in Room 302 to continue worshipping in a way that is fun and interesting for kids.
Two adults lead the children to our Children's Worship room, and parents can pick up their children after the regular worship service has finished. This ministry also allows parents to enjoy the sermon without having to keep an eye on their children.
For more information, please contact Nancy Volding, our Director of Children's Ministries.
Each Sunday morning, we gather after the early service and before Sunday School, to greet each other and share breakfast snacks. Methodists are well-known for sharing food! Please join us in the Gathering Room (105) near the Sanctuary and church offices.
