Helping Hands

St. John's holds semi-annual food drives in January and July.

This year, we are asking all members, young and old, to bring the number of cans that corresponds to the last number in your year of birth. For example, if you were born in 1955, you would bring 5 cans. This is also a great way to get your children involved in mission work within the community and talk with them about God's commandment to us: "If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him...so he can continue to live among you."

- Leviticus 25:35

Please help us donate greatly needed food and clothing. Due to the economic downturn, Helping Hands is seeing more families than ever with less support than ever.

This local ministry serves all of West Fort Bend County providing food and clothing to those needing assistance on a short-term basis.  St. John's UMC holds two food drives each year (January and July) to help keep their pantry shelves stocked.  In addition, various groups from St. John's hold other events throughout the year to support Helping Hands financially. Non-perishable foods (rice, canned meat/vegetables/fruits, pastas, soups and beans), personal care products (soap, toothpaste/brushes, shampoo) and monetary donations are always welcomed.  To volunteer, please call 281.232.4904.  Donations may be brought to the church or Helping Hands at 902 Collins Road in Richmond.
